A popular village pub of both real and TV vintage

Older visitors might remember (or perhaps try to forget) a TV soap called Crossroads, many of whose outdoor scenes were shot in Tanworth, doubling as 'Kings Oak'. The pub overlooks the small village green and war memorial, and has stood here since the 17th century, so the cool grey tones of the thoroughly modern bar area might come as a surprise. Starters include duck liver and wild mushroom pâté and goats’ cheese bruschetta with roasted figs; hand-made faggots, creamed potatoes and mushy peas; Moroccan chicken with fruit couscous; or pub classics like a burger in a brioche bun.
