Beautiful countryside surrounds the little village of Llancarfan, and the church houses medieval paintings dating back to the 15th century. The pub was rescued from threat of closure by the villagers, and bought by the Millards. There’s a light and airy restaurant and an ornate glass-roofed canopy means you can eat outside even if it happens to be raining. There’s Butcombe Adam Henson's Rare Breed and Gold bitter on tap in the bar, while on the menu you’ll find starters like avocado, crab and prawn cocktail or rillettes of duck with red onion marmalade, followed by cannon of Welsh lamb; or roasted butternut squash, spinach and pine nut risotto.
