This relaxed red brick pub has had a very stylish makeover, all pale grey paintwork and eclectic furnishings. Have a pint of local or craft beer, or check out the G&T Club (every Wednesday). Local, sustainable food is the kitchen’s motto, and they offer light lunches and a gluten-free menu as well as the seasonal à la carte. Share a deli board, or start with English venison and green pepper salami with fig compôte, dressed rocket and beetroot syrup; move on to lentil, spinach and mushroom cottage pie with parmesan mash; or grilled fillet of sea bass with saffron and spring onion risotto and spiced crayfish butter.
