Local twins, Alex (front of house) and Oliver (chef) Burnside own this pantiled old inn at the heart of the renowned Snape Maltings complex; it's handy for cultural and shopping opportunities and close to splendid coastal walks. The interior is a comfy mix of dining and avant-garde destination pub; local ales and a good bin of wines accompany a solid menu, featuring a Mediterranean fish soup with gruyère and Carlingford oysters with shallot vinegar; followed by Gressingham duck breast, carrot, beetroot and potato fondants, carrot purée; or Adnams beer-battered fish and chips with crushed minted peas. A blackboard of specials adds to the choice.
