Attractive 18th-century building in a picturesque cottage garden

Bar menu
Open all year

The Bower Inn was converted from a private family home to a restaurant in the 1980s, then following two years of closure, it attracted the attention of Peter and Candida Leaver, who purchased and renovated it. Business is good, both in the bar (mind the tiger!), where Somerset’s Butcombe and Devon’s Otter real ales are served, and in the contemporary restaurant, renowned for home-made food such as goats' cheese risotto with parmesan and truffle oil; smoked haddock and cheddar fish cakes; lasagne with garlic ciabatta; and beefburger with blue cheese and jalapeño pepper jam.
