This inn sits in Douglas Square at the heart of Newcastleton (sometimes referred to as Copshaw Holm), an 18th-century village planned by Henry Scott, the third Duke of Buccleuch. An ideal base for exploring the unspoiled countryside in this area, the inn has a bar stocked with over 20 malt whiskies and a different cask-conditioned ale every week in the summer. The menu is full of pub favourites – creamy garlic mushrooms; steak and ale pie; battered haddock and chips; and apple and cinnamon crumble.
