Originally catering for the fox-hunting aristocracy, this charming inn, in the heart of the Scottish Borders, dates back to 1836. It is an attractive brick and stone building with an immaculate garden. Inside, the large and comfortable lounge is warmed by a log fire in winter, while the garden comes into its own during the warmer months. Extensive menus are offered in the both the Blue Coo Bistrot and the rustic Huntsman Bar; the former focuses on local and seasonal produce – in particular, Aberdeen Angus steaks from the area, and the latter on traditional dishes – burgers; haggis, natties and neeps; and baked fish pie for example.
