Although no longer called a hotel, overnight guests are still very much welcome at this former mail-coach stopover on the old Edinburgh to Inverness road. The flagstone-floored bar offers Perth-brewed Lure of Meikleour, and StrathBraan Due South from Dunkeld. Eat in the bar, the wood-panelled dining room, on the terrace or in the garden and enjoy vegetables, trout and game from the pub's own land; seafood arrives daily from Aberdeen. Menus feature Isle of Mull quiche, roast guinea fowl breast and pearl barley; Scottish haddock deep fried in ale batter; and pear tarte Tatin. A beer and cider festival is held in August.
