A wealth of exposed stone, leather-clad armchairs, and dark wood dining furniture characterise the interior of this stylish 16th-century inn. Children and dogs are made as welcome as their parents, and with a range of pizzas on the menu they are unlikely to leave hungry (the children, that is). Other hearty pub fare options are steaks, beer battered fish and chips, fisherman’s pie, wild mushroom Stroganoff, cheese and leek puff pastry parcel, and chicken, Parma ham and black olive tagliatelle. A take-away service operates for those in a rush, but if it’s just a quiet pint you are looking for, head to the beer garden to sup a Hook Norton Hooky or Belhaven Black.
