Little has changed at this timeless gem since the Wilson-Morton family took over in 1917. Lost in superb remote countryside north of Rothbury, The Star Inn retains many period features and the bar is like stepping into someone’s living room, comfortable and quiet, with no intrusive fruit machines or piped music. Don’t expect any food though, just cask ales in the peak of condition, served from a hatch in the entrance hall. This inn is a real find – just check the days of the week when it's open though.
