There’s a very salty tang about this pretty, late-1700s inn – of course there is, since it overlooks Newton Haven’s sandy beach. Then there are the names of their real ales: Sea Coal, Sea Wheat, Ship Hop Ale and Sandcastles at Dawn, all in fact, with Dolly Day Dream brewed next door. The barrels then have to be rolled all of 15 feet to the cellar; from here they are pumped to the small bar, where you can expect plenty of locally caught fresh and smoked fish; toasted sandwiches; ploughman's; bacon, mushroom and tomato stottie (a local flat loaf); and hand-picked crab.
