Once a coaching inn, this family-run pub just north of Morpeth is perfectly situated for exploring the stunning Northumbrian coast and the ancient town of Alnwick. Dating back around 250 years, The Granby Inn prides itself on being a traditional pub for a pint in the cosy bar but the food attracts diners from all over. Local sourcing extends to meat from a nearby butcher and fish from North Shields, all of which turns up in dishes such as home-made black pudding with tomato and chilli jam; poussin confit legs, Kiev, skin crackling, wild garlic purée and chicken jus; and steak and ale pie with braised cabbage.
