Open all year

This imposing building dates back over 400 years, and is featured in Charles Dickens’ first novel, The Pickwick Papers. The same home comforts that Dickens enjoyed when visiting Towcester have been updated to modern standards, and discerning customers will find excellent service in the restored pub. Starters might be panko-breadcrumbed calamari rings; or chicken liver pâté with cherry compôte, followed by a main course of beef and ale pie, mash and vegetables; or leek, potato and spring onion homity pie. Sandwiches, jackets, wraps and ciabattas are all available too.
