A local landmark, the Tempest dates to the coaching days of the 17th century. The Yorkshire Dales and surrounding countryside bring walkers and cyclists, who enjoy the pub’s warm welcome and convivial atmosphere. Wood fires, comfy cushions, alcoves and dining spaces set the interior’s comfortable mood, completed by an array of Yorkshire ales at the bar and a vast menu of pub food. A Tempest staple is the beer-battered haddock with chips, tartare sauce and mushy peas. But there’s no better place for a starter of beer-soaked button mushrooms with a melting Stilton top, Goan fish curry and pineapple chutney to follow.
