Set in the Esk Valley within a stone’s throw of the river, The Postgate is a typical North York Moors country inn; it played the part of the Black Dog in TV’s Heartbeat. Being on the coast-to-coast trail, and becoming known as a food destination, the pub is popular with walkers who chat amiably with locals in the bar over their pints of Black Sheep. The menu offers an array of locally sourced fresh fish and seafood from Whitby fish market, excellent local meats, and game in season.
