The stone-built 18th-century Malt Shovel offers a friendly atmosphere with well-kept ales and food prepared from quality local ingredients. There are two dining rooms where you can enjoy starters of chestnut mushrooms in rich blue cheese sauce; smoked salmon, spinach and cream cheese tartlet or prosciutto ham and prawns, followed by vegetable and bean goulash; steak pie; or chicken with chorizo sausage and smoked paprika. There is also a large beer garden at the rear of the pub where you can sit and enjoy a pint or two of Black Sheep in lovely surroundings.
