AA Pick of the Pubs
Peacocks roam the garden of this ivy-clad pub named after the Hare family, who purchased Stow Bardolph estate in 1553 and still play an important part locally. Owners Pat and Deborah Palmer have retained the old-world charm of this former coaching inn, with fascinating memorabilia on display throughout the music-free, L-shaped bar, where guest ales partner those of Greene King. There's plenty to contemplate on the menu, so take your time choosing between, perhaps, slow-cooked beef ribs in BBQ sauce and steak and pork belly with grilled black pudding. Vegetarian options may include Moroccan bean burger. Gluten-free menus available.
