Good food and well-kept ales at this village pub

At a glance

Bar menu

A fine old inn dating from 1611 in lovely countryside, with a garden overlooking the Wye Valley. The pub offers several curries, including chicken kashmiri, and fruit and vegetable jalfrezi; and Welsh Black beef, Welsh lamb and roasted ham, all with fresh vegetables, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and beer gravy. There is also a fresh fish menu with whole griddled flounder; sizzling crevettes; and beer-battered cod and chips. The owners' passion for real ales and ciders is evident both in the great bar line-up, and at the September beer festival.
