A striking corner-plot destination dining pub in leafy Dulwich, heavy on the wood panelling, with stripped floorboards and some great floor tiling. The kitchen creates modern British menus with a Mediterranean twist. Start with game terrine with piccalilli or Colchester native oysters before moving on to fricassée of rabbit with sherry, sweetcorn, monk's beard and oregano; or walnut gnocchi with gorgonzola cream and rocket. Affable locals pop in for some flavoursome beers, too, from the likes of Timothy Taylor, and perhaps one of the 30-plus wines offered by the glass. Occasional photographic exhibitions add to the interior’s flair.
