Dating from around 1367, The Kings Head stands in an ample garden in a pretty village where former resident and songwriter Bernie Taupin was apparently inspired by the colour of the Lincolnshire stone to pen Goodbye Yellow Brick Road for his mate, Elton John. Dogs are welcome in the bar, where the line-up includes real ales from Marston's, Ringwood, Jennings and Wychwood plus ciders. Sausage and mash; and brie, cherry tomato, cranberry and broccoli bake appear on the bar menu, while in the converted barn restaurant the mains listing may include sea bass fillet with scallops; medallion of beef fillet with a peppercorn sauce; and confit duck leg with parsnip dauphinoise and mulled plums.
