Originally built as two terraced cottages in 1688, this Grade II listed free house stands on the banks of the River Soar and has a secluded riverside garden, ideal for summer sipping and dining. Exposed beams, flagstone floors and roaring winter log fires characterise the cosy bar and dining areas. Fine wines and cask-conditioned beers from Black Sheep accompany a varied, weekly-changing menu of British and European classics, as well as light lunches and snacks – Moroccan spiced potted lamb, chutney and toast; home-made beef and Stilton pie, herbed mash and gravy; or chicken, bacon and mushroom penne carbonara. Children are welcome only until 8pm unless they're eating along with adults.
