When neighbouring All Saints Church was under construction in 1485 its builders needed a hostel, so they built what about half a millennium later became Ye Olde Bakers Arms. Its bakehouse, last used in the 1920s, still features the original ovens. Bar snacks are written on chalk boards; restaurant dishes include breast of Gressingham duck; pan-seared king scallops; beef and Tiger ale pie; local game sausage and a selection of artisan dishes. It's an Everard's house, so expect the Leicester brewery's Tiger and Beacon real ales, while also from the county comes Bottle Kicking cider.
