The Swan with Two Necks

Hidden away in the pretty village of Pendleton, the award-winning Swan with Two Necks is a traditional village inn dating back to 1722. Pendleton sits under Pendle Hill, which is famous for its tales of witches, and that’s not the only curious piece of history attached to this place; the inn’s name refers to the tradition of marking the necks of swans belonging to the Worshipful Company of Vintners with two ‘nicks’ to distinguish them from swans belonging to the king or queen. Of course you won’t find swan on the menu here, but this pub is renowned for its ales and ciders, so be sure to try the likes of Phoenix Wobbly Bob or Ribble Valley Gold along with a home-made pie or a dish of beef in red wine.
