Owned and run by the Wilkinson family for over 35 years, this authentic tavern sits by the Lancaster Canal within Guy’s Thatched Hamlet. Flagged floors, low beamed ceilings and whitewashed walls add to the ambience, as do well-kept cask ales including the pub’s own Owd Nell’s Canalside Bitter and Moorhouse Pendle Witch. The home-made food is typified by steak and kidney pudding; hot roasted local beef sandwiches; and fish, chips and mushy peas. The pub hosts numerous events throughout the year, including a beer and cider festival in the last weekend of July and an early September oyster festival.
