Lost down winding lanes in a scattered North Downs hamlet, the 250-year-old Tiger Inn oozes traditional character and rural charm. The front bar is delightfully rustic and unpretentious, with stripped oak floors, two warming wood-burning stoves, old cushioned pews and scrubbed old pine tables. Mingle with the locals at the bar with a pint of Master Brew or the pub’s own Tiger Bitter, then order a hearty meal from the inviting chalkboard menu – perhaps Romney Marsh rack of lamb with redcurrant jus; whole Dover sole; and chicken, ham and leek pie with shortcrust pastry. In summer dine alfresco on the suntrap front terrace. There are super walks all around.
