Top-notch food in a beautiful setting

Restaurant menu

There’s been a pub here since at least 1642, while in the Middle Ages monks were supplying the kitchens of Canterbury Cathedral with the best the area had to offer. These days they like to keep that stuff to themselves, and it’s a real destination restaurant, with two AA Rosettes. You can still get a pint of Whitstable Bay Pale Ale in the bar, however, before checking the menu. There are oysters (of course) or maybe mussel and bacon chowder; main courses might take in seared thornback ray with brown butter and cockles; or charred, maple-cured pork loin.
