One of Cranbrook’s landmark buildings, the 14th-century George Hotel traditionally served visiting buyers of locally-made Cranbrook cloth. Magistrates held court here for over 300 years, and today the sophisticated interior mixes period features with contemporary decor. The brasserie menu offers a take on classic English cuisine – wild boar sausages with mash, perhaps; while in the restaurant diners can sample modern English dishes like trio of pork – slow-roast belly, braised cheek, Savoy cabbage and pancetta parcel, with heritage carrots.
