Named in honour of the Duke of Wellington who allegedly discussed strategy with his troops here, this old pub has been enjoyed by lucky locals for centuries. Located in the quintessential Chilterns' village of Aldbury, beneath the beech woods of Ashridge Park, the Trooper’s bar proffers six real ales. Bar food encompasses jackets, sandwiches, ploughman’s and pub favourites, while the restaurant menu features dishes like steak and Tring Ale pie; and beer-battered fish, mushy peas and hand-cut chips.
