Brewers' Tudor-style country pub

At a glance

Open all year
Dog friendly

Surrounded by a white picket-fence, The Oaks stands on a corner, with lakes and woodland behind; handy for an outing from Harefield, Chalfont St Peter, Rickmansworth or Denham. Expect to find St Austell and Rebellion IPA on hand pump along with guest ales. A typical meal could be brochette of fried wild mushrooms, house-smoked cheddar and shallots followed by haddock in Symonds cider batter, chips, peas and home-made tartare sauce; a 28-day-aged rump, sirloin or rib-eye steak; or honey-roast ham hock with beetroot and potato gratin, mustard and cider sauce. Snacks include spiced barbecue chicken and pulled pork sandwiches. Among the desserts, quince crème caramel is quite unusual.
