The village’s ancient stocks and duck pond are popular with film-makers who frequently use Aldbury as a location, allowing the pub’s customers the chance to witness every clap of the clapperboard. In the oak-beamed restaurant, the comprehensive menu includes salads and platters, as well as pan-fried sea bass fillet with potato wedges and salad; Thai chicken curry with long grain rice; or local venison steak, fondant potato and redcurrant jus. Among the desserts are chocolate and brandy torte; and cherry Bakewell sponge and custard. The bar snacks are a local legend, especially when accompanied by Badger Dorset Best or Tanglefoot ale.
