Enjoyable local food in a buzzy village hub

At a glance

Bar menu
Kids play area

Built as a hotel in the 1930s, Brookmans may no longer offer a bed for the night but it remains the social hub of the village. Racing Green leather upholstery and silk lampshades add a touch of class to the bar, where a rotating choice of guest ales is complemented by 15 wines by the glass. Local produce and named suppliers drive the modern British menu and daily specials, which might include chilli and lime crab cake with wasabi mayo; Cornish lamb casserole and creamy mash, finishing off with Valrhona white chocolate cheesecake and Baileys cream.
