For walkers and cyclists on the Clarendon Way between the cathedral cities of Winchester and Salisbury, the 300-year-old Tally Ho couldn't be better located. Originally a doctor's surgery before becoming a pub in 1832, it now belongs to top record producer Chris Thomas. Real ales, among them Ringwood and Cheddar, are on tap as perfect accompaniments to the seasonal dishes. Top quality, locally raised meats include buffalo, pork, lamb and venison, with pan-seared halibut appealing to fish lovers. There’s create-your-own pizza nights on Thursdays, and roasts on Sundays.
