Dine by candlelight at this 16th-century, low-beamed inn with a huge open log fire. Fresh hands since the end of 2015 have maintained the real ale portfolio of Doom Bar, Otter and guests, and the menu continues to offer a wide choice: chargrilled rump and fillet steaks: burgers, including one so-called 'bad boy' jalapeño and cheese; teriyaki salmon with stir-fried noodles; chef's curry of the day; and five-bean chilli with rice. Children are welcome to have a small portion of what mum and dad have chosen, but can fall back on their own menu if all appeals fail. Two roasts on Sundays and a specials board.
