Opposite Jane Austen’s House Museum stands this 16th-century pub. As well as its friendly atmosphere and delightful village setting, the south-facing suntrap garden is another draw. The pub is Fuller's-owned and offers London Pride and Gale's Seafarers along with great food. An extensive sample menu includes ham hock terrine; and breaded Japenese prawns for starters, followed by a sharing board (Mediterranean or smoked salmon); chilli con carne; red Thai curry; and grilled Asian pork chop. Finish with sticky toffee pudding or lemon posset. Sandwiches and jackets are also available for lunch.
