A popular rural free house, this is a perfect place for refreshment following a day at the Newbury Races, walking the Berkshire Downs, or visiting Highclere Castle. The bar menu features a good range of favourites, such as belly of pork, with black pudding, bubble and squeak with apple and cider sauce; three bean chilli; Moroccan-spiced lamb shank with apricot couscous and vegetable tagine; and warm chocolate fudge cake for afters. There’s a large front garden, a children’s play area and a rear patio with parasols – perfect for summer drinking.
