A lovely country pub with a multitude of low beams testifying to its 15th-century origins. Paul and Nichola Sanders have a proven track record of running successful pubs and their forte is preparing classic English dishes and daily specials based on fresh fish, steaks and duck, and serving well-kept pints of Hall & Woodhouse ales. A brasserie menu proffers the likes of Cornish battered cod fillet, while the carte overflows with favourites such as crispy breaded brie, and skate wing with black butter. Eat and drink by a log fire, out front under sheltered grapevines, or on the decked area in the rear garden, overlooking the countryside.
