Old photographs show the thatched and whitewashed exterior looking much as it did 100 years ago, when the Crook & Shears first became a pub; parts of the building date to the 17th century, when it was probably built as a farmhouse. The interiors ooze character, ideal surroundings in which to enjoy a quiet pint of Ringwood or glass of wine. Menus are wholesome and traditional, ranging from freshly baked baguettes and jacket potatoes at lunchtime, to pub favourites in the evening such as breaded garlic mushrooms; home-made steak and ale pie; and jam roly poly. Food and drink can be served in the large rear garden.
