Beer festival

Close to Cheltenham’s famous racecourse, this 16th-century pub was once owned by England cricket legend Tom Graveney. Current owners Simon and Kate Daws, who have been here for 15 years, also own The Gloucester Old Spot, Cheltenham. Enjoy well-kept local cask ales, real ciders and delicious food in the snug, the comfortable dining room or the heated patio overlooking a pretty beer garden. Menus and blackboard specials might list pan-fried wood pigeon breast, and black pudding salad; baked ratatouille lasagne; and spiced roast lamb rump, fondant potato, sauté kale and ras el hanout seasoned tomato sauce. There is a beer and sausage festival on the Spring Bank Holiday and a cider festival on the Summer Bank Holiday.
