Just 20 minutes from both Bath and Bristol, this 17th-century, stone-built former farmhouse and dairy is packed with original character, with beams in the bar and dining room, flagstone floors, inglenook fireplaces, old pews and big oak tables. Meals are freshly prepared using ingredients mostly from local producers and suppliers (and from home-grown produce), meaning that a typical menu might feature spicy salmon fish cakes; followed by sticky BBQ ribs or spring green risotto; and finally passionfruit pannacotta. The south-facing terrace and garden is where to be when the sun's out.
