The beautiful Bakers Arms dates from the 17th century and was formerly the village bakery; it still has its low-beamed ceilings and inglenook fireplace. Only a stone’s throw from the Thames Path and Cotswold Way, the pub is a convenient watering hole for walkers. The home-cooked food on offer runs along the lines of baguettes, light lunches and pub favourites – a pot of whitebait with aïoli; honey-baked ham, two fried eggs and chips; home-made vegetable curry; and 8oz Forest of Dean boar burger with rosemary salted chips. The mature gardens are ideal for alfresco dining, with discreet children's play areas.
