Parts of this pub, sitting proudly on a green known locally as Tigers Island, are 250 years old. Landlady Liz and her team revel in offering a great choice of the best regional and local beers and ciders. The pub’s interior, all match boarding, old pictures, brewery memorabilia, dark posts, pillars, beams and fireplaces, oozes character, while the solidly traditional menu and specials board shout quality. Start with an Italian meat platter, and move on to lamb's liver and bacon casserole; grilled extra mature rib-eye steak; or grilled haddock served on creamy spring onion mash with a wild mushroom fricasée.
