Formed from two agricultural cottages, this 17th-century inn is situated in the tiny hamlet of Newney Green. The friendly Duck offers up to six real ales, including weekly guests, and menus that reflect the region’s produce. Choose from the extensive menu in the beamed dining room; start with giant duck pancake and hoisin sauce; or deep-fried brie with quince jelly and dressed leaves; then move on to mains like steak and ale pie; beef casserole and fluffy dumplings; or scampi and chips. Soak up the sun in the garden with its children’s play area.
