Formed from two agricultural cottages, this 17th-century inn is situated in the tiny hamlet of Newney Green. The friendly Duck offers up to six real ales, including weekly guests, and menus that reflect the region’s produce. Choose from the extensive menu in the beamed dining room; start with spiced duck pancakes; or a classic prawn cocktail; then move on to mains like steak and ale pie; lamb shank, creamy mash and a redcurrant and rosemary gravy; or ham, egg and chips. Soak up the sun in the garden with its children’s play area.
