The Dolphin was originally four cottages dating from the 16th-century, one of which was an alehouse, that over time have become a single attractive building. Midway between Braintree and Colchester, The Dolphin makes a great refreshment stop, serving food and drink all day every day. Greene King ales, Aspall’s cider, popular home-cooked pub fare, warming log fires and friendly staff are all attributes here. Children have their own menu, washed down with unlimited squash. Dedham Vale beef is grilled to your liking, or look to the specials list for the likes of twice-roasted pork belly, Bramley apple and ham mash with wholegrain mustard sauce.
