A few years ago Joss Ridley left London and a top job so he could snap up this pub to revive the family link with the former Ridley Brewery, and he hasn’t looked back. The traditional inn stands in a sleepy hamlet and thrives selling tip-top ales straight from the barrel, including Bishop Nick, brewed by Joss’s brother Nelion, and fresh, hearty pub food. Using local ingredients, the menu and chalkboard specials include filled ‘huffer’ baps, ploughman's, and beer battered cod and chips. The interior is timeless and unspoilt, the garden large and peaceful.
