Nostalgic pub with great home cooking

At a glance

Bar menu
Open all year

The owners of this weather-boarded, 17th-century pub like to create a ‘nostalgic pub experience’. In the bar, ales from brewers such as Adnams, are backed by Westons ciders. David Hunt, a skilled self-taught chef, uses the best of seasonal produce and loves to offer dishes such as prawn and crayfish cocktail; butternut squash, chestnut and mushroom risotto; calves’ liver and bacon; steak in ale puff pastry pie; and confit pork belly with apple mash. The pub also serves breakfast daily and offers a great range of bar snacks such as pork crackling with warm apple sauce or a home-made Scotch egg.
