Bar menu
Open all year

Originally a hostelry for pilgrims making their way from Battle to Chichester, this timber-framed 13th-century pub has a wealth of features including a lion figurehead from a 17th-century shipwreck. Refurbished in 2015, the heavy beams and real fires are still present and correct, with the 37 elegant bedrooms and restaurant offering a more contemporary comforts. Order a pint of locally brewed Harvey’s ale as you choose from a locally-sourced menu that includes steamed clams with spaghetti, pancetta, chilli and white wine, perhaps followed by pan-fried organic lamb’s liver, mash, greens, bacon and roast onion gravy.
