Award-winning rustic food and local ales to match

Isolated but well worth finding, this dining pub enjoys a lovely garden setting on a peaceful dead-end lane looking out to the South Downs. The bar retains some of the character of a Victorian alehouse, with locally-sourced ales on tap, while the dining room strikes a cool, modern-rustic pose. Well-sourced food shines on daily-changing menus, served throughout the pub, from calves' liver in bacon and shallot sauce with colcannon and broccoli, to haunch of local venison, cep and celeriac tart, squash purée, tenderstem broccoli and port sauce. Good value fixed-price and children’s menus are also available.
