Overlooking the Jurassic Coast's most famous feature, Chesil Beach, parts of this 16th-century manor house are thought to date from the 11th century. It offers an inviting mix of flagstones, Jacobean oak panelling, roaring fires and a cosy cellar bar serving Otter ales and locally sourced dishes. Eat in the Manor Restaurant or in the Cellar Bar. With a drink in hand study the chalkboards displaying modern British dishes; perhaps smoked mackerel pâté followed by mushroom and roasted Mediterranean vegetable stroganoff with paprika, brandy and cream and served with wild rice. The large free car park is a bonus.
