The Kings Arms has gained a good local reputation for its British classics, especially beef, and other locally-sourced dishes prepared by chefs Mark Miller and Nick Brooke. From their main menu come a variety of steaks, including a 100-day aged, grain-fed rib-eye, and a Chateaubriand for sharing. Also, seafood bouillabaisse; prosciutto-wrapped venison cannon; pan-fried calves’ liver; chicken and chorizo risotto; and Blue Vinny and butternut squash tarte Tatin are tempting. Duo of pork with apple and apricot stuffing; and duck breast with stir-fry vegetables and saffron rice might appear on the specials menu. The bar usually keeps three real ales, among them Ringwood Best, from a few miles east, and various traditional ciders. Some 15 wines are by the glass, the reds chosen very much with the beef dishes in mind.
